Why
We celebrate lei because they’re so much more than just pretty flowers—they’re a symbol of aloha, love, and connection that’s been cherished across Polynesia for centuries. Whether given in celebration, ceremony or simply as a warm welcome, a lei carries deep meaning and heartfelt intention.
Each one is a beautiful reminder that, like the diverse flowers and foliage strung together, people from different backgrounds can unite to form something beautiful. To give or receive a lei is to participate in a shared history, one that speaks in the unspoken language of care and respect. In honoring lei, we honor our heritage, our relationships, and the values that bind us together.
Also- if you haven’t already, please mahalo your lei makers this month. Between graduation, may day and weddings- they are working over time and we love them for it.
