Mornings in the Lei Garden

Spend a peaceful morning in our lei garden creating your own lei po‘o with our experienced guides. This is not your typical simple, quick lei-making workshop. This is a deeper dive into the plants of lei making. You’ll learn about beautiful, freshly-harvested native and introduced materials from our lei garden to create your own work to take with you.

What to Expect

Spend the morning surrounded by fresh local flowers and native greenery in our lei garden. Our Lei Po’o workshop is a relaxed, beautiful experience centered around one of Hawai’i’s most beloved lei traditions– the lei po’o, a flower crown worn on the head.

To start the morning, our friendly, experienced guides will take you on a tour of our lei garden. Smell, touch and learn about what is in bloom. Discover what makes these local plants so special and their role in the tradition of Hawaiian lei.

Join our covered, outdoor lei table and explore a spread of freshly harvested greenery and flowers.

You’ll learn the wili style of lei making, with more advanced techniques (we’re talking far beyond stringing orchids!) including braiding and more.

You’ll finish the experience with your own, unique completed lei poʻo (head crown) created with the fresh plants you’ve discovered. Take beautiful photos in our garden and enjoy wearing your creation around the island.

Reviews

“I took the morning Lei making class and would take it every morning if I could! Such a lovely way to learn about Kauai, the significance of lei making, and left with a crown! I hope to return for their other experiences!”

“The lei making was fun and just relaxing. We walked away with a pretty lei and knowledge of how to replicate the project back home.”
