Part of an experimental process series, Outpost Coffee’s own Ben Fit partnered with Delvin of Nauarro Coffee to produce this very special coffee, tasting of brown sugar, candied licorice, and starfruit, with a big and syrupy body. The Nauarro Coffee Farm, located on the remote and peaceful eastern slopes of Mauna Loa on Hawai’i Island, grows at 2,100 feet elevation in the Kaʻu region. A multigenerational dealing, Delvin is the husband of Nette, whose grandfather originally planted the coffee on the farm and was in fact one of the first farmers to plant coffee in the now world-renowned Kaʻu region. This experimental anaerobic process involves hand-picked cherries and an anaerobic whole-cherry fermentation which increases sweetness. The traditional farming techniques combined with bold and modern processing make for an exceptionally unique (and special, limited-run) coffee.
