Lahela, co-author of Aloha Publishing books, was born and raised on Kauaʻi and believes that aloha is not just a word. Lahela’s greatest hope is that her Hawaiian culture will continue to thrive and be remembered. She knows that if knowledge of the culture isn’t passed down, it will be forgotten. Aloha Publishing’s series of books about aloha lends deeper insight into Hawaiian history, language and traditions so that visitors and residents alike may educate themselves and perpetuate Hawaiian culture for generations to come.

Aloha Publishing is the brainchild of Lahela Keikilaʻauʻoʻwakanahele Chandler Correa, born and raised on the island of Kauaʻi, and Ann Hettinger, from the midwest and now-resident of Kauaʻi. Lahela’s deep knowledge of the meaning of aloha, passed down through generations, and Ann’s desire to make the world a better place for her grandchildren united to create a series of books about aloha for children and adults, residents and visitors alike.
