In August 2020, Common Ground, in partnership with KGEFCU, was awarded $150,000 through the CARES Act to launch the MealKit Delivery Program, a weekly distribution of local food products to seniors from Anahola to Hāʻena.

Common Ground and KGEFCU were among a number of islandwide recipients to receive funding related to food support programs for Kauaʻi residents. Every week from August to the end of December 2020, the Common Ground team prepared and distributed over 100 mealkits to north shore recipients. In total, the program delivered 2,400 mealkits (9,600 meals). By offering pick-up and no-contact home delivery options, the program benefited kūpuna who were housebound due to medical or other reasons. Collaboration with local organizations — Hanalei Colony Resort, Waipā Foundation, KKOA, and Ka Hale Pono — helped facilitate weekly distributions. Each MealKit contained a protein and starch as well as other local food products, such as fruits and vegetables. With each bag, the ingredients and featured vendors were listed with brief preparation instructions. Over a dozen Kauaʻi-based vendors were included, such as Wailua Meat Company, Kauaʻi Kim Chee, Bone To Be Wild, ʻĀina Ho’okupu o Kīlauea, and Moloaʻa Organicaʻa.
