Exploring Common Ground: A Regenerative Farm Tour, Farm-to-Table Picnic & Stone Dam Excursion
Join our team of passionate professionals as we spend a half day exploring the magnificent experience of Common Ground.
The walking tour meanders through the regenerative organic food forest led by farm manager, John Parziale. We'll finish our day at the site's lakefront lounge with an exquisitely crafted farm style picnic lunch made primarily with ingredients grown on Kauai.

Learn about ‘agroforestry’, a regenerative method of farming, where we design to transform a farm from bare land into a flourishing forest of fruit trees and useful plants. Discover the systems and plants that demonstrate real tangible solutions to our broken food system and understand how you can play a role in a more regenerative future.
Meet the Makers
John has practiced organic, ecological agriculture on Kauai for 23 years. He founded Kauai Authentic Farms in 2001, home to the Center for Regenerative Agriculture. He has taught permaculture and sustainable agriculture in Hawaii, the US mainland, and in Europe. He is now Common Ground's farm manager and has started to plant an innovative agroforest on the campus which is now nearing a year old.
Amara has a lifelong passion for ecology that she enjoys most when sharing it with others. Her teaching style is solutions-based, experiential, and aims to empower the next generation with a sense of belonging to place, and a foundational awareness of our ecological life-support systems. She has taught ecological literacy professionally for 9 years to elementary through highschool aged students, including through the Alta Vista School, where she won an award from the City of San Francisco for her zero waste curriculum. Amara is also the founder and director of the Indigenous Wisdom & Permaculture Skills Convergence, a 10 day gathering dedicated to gaining critical hands-on skills in ecologically minded practices, on the Oglala Lakota Pine Ridge reservation.
