Facilities Assistant

Facilities Assistant reports directly to the Facilities Manager of COMMON GROUND and assists with management of all buildings, infrastructure and gardens located at COMMON GROUND KAUA`I.

Part-time (20 hours per week) - $29/hour. Salary with benefits, including: medical, dental, PTO, 401K

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with Facilities Manager to oversee building and grounds maintenance
  • Assist with inspecting and repairing electrical and plumbing services
  • Assist with inspecting and repairing agricultural and potable water systems
  • Maintain adequate parts inventory and order replacement parts as necessary
  • Ensure facilities are always clean
  • Manage waste disposal systems
  • Work with Facilities Manager to ensure a constant security presence
  • Assist with management of parking facilities
  • Working with CG tenants to ensure facilities are in proper working order.

Candidate requirements:

  • Must possess a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English
  • Candidate must possess a valid Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Plumbing and irrigation experience
  • Heavy equipment operation and maintenance
  • Carpentry/building experience
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems
  • Knowledge of relevant OSHA and safety standards

Farm Field Manager

To assist in operations and maintenance of our growing regenerative food forest. Working under the supervision of the Director of Agroecology to continue to grow the production of the farm to meet the demand of our hospitality operation. The farm supplies Common Ground Kauaiʻs increasing onsite food and beverage business. 

In addition the farm serves as a demonstrational place for guests to learn and see regenerative food forestry. This requires the farm to be continuously kept to a fine touch to ensure excellent visitor experience. 

Collaboration with the culinary and experience team is essential to ensure success of the business. 

Job starts at 20 hours per week with additional hours added with demonstrated commitment and success of the farm. Starting pay rate to be $30/hour. Salary with benefits, including: medical, dental, PTO, 401K

Required Skills

  • Experienced organic farmer. 
  • Knowledge of regenerative farm practices, food forestry and/or a willingness to become an expert.
  • Experience with animal systems, chickens, cows, etc. 
  • Knowledge of nursery plant production 
  • Ability to harvest, clean and deliver produce
  • Passionate about growing food on Kauai
  • Experience in operation of the following:  chainsaws, lawn mowers, weedwackers,

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in supervisory role. Managing team of field workers.  
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment, tractor, bobcat, wood chipper, etc. 

Farm Education Team

We are in search of a team member for the farm and nature education portion of daily hospitality operations. Working closely with our culinary and guest services team to provide an outstanding customer experience and education. 

Responsibilities will include leading regular tours through the farm, interacting with guests and answering  questions, working to expand and develop farm tour programming (such as poor weather activities, kids programming, etc.),  leading workshops, and coordinating with volunteer groups.

Part-time (20 hours per week) - $30 / Hour Salary with benefits, including: medical, dental, PTO, 401K

Required Skills

  • Excellent people skills, good communicator.  Comfortable engaging with geographically diverse groups, speaking publicly and working with kids. 
  • Basic farm or gardening knowledge and willingness to become expert in regenerative agriculture.  
  • Strong connection to Hawaii and commitment to place-based work.
  • Passionate about farm grown food, willingness to learn from the culinary team about how the ingredients tie together to make a meal unique to Hawaii.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in Hawaiian cultural traditions. 
  • Experience planting, growing  and harvesting.
  • Experience in teaching, education, or communications.

Front of House Team

Front of House team member to operate daily operations of our Farm and Food Experience and assist in executing special events (weddings, Mele & Manoʻo, private dinners).  We are a start-up led by a small team, interested candidates must be a self starter and willing to pitch in on all aspects of day-to-day operations. 

Job starts at 20 hours per week with additional hours added as the programming and events grow. 

Part-time (20 hours per week) - $25 /hour. Salary with benefits, including: medical, dental, PTO, 401K

Required Skills

  • Strong customer service skills - return phone calls and emails in a timely manner. Engaging with customers in person. 
  • Detail oriented - to ensure all aspects(Parking, facilities, trash, lightning, etc..) of programs are functioning properly from start to finish
  • Availability to work evening, nights, weekends as required
  • Active Hawaii Blue Card holder or willing to obtain
  • Able to lift 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of POS and booking systems(Clover, Fareharbor).
  • Hospitality experience 
  • Bartending skills or willingness to learn 
  • Basic farm or gardening knowledge
